The Fashion industry and plus sizes?

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links.

This is a critical circumstance for all my gorgeous and fabulous plus-size women. Do you perceive the industry has got you covered when it comes to your curves, ladies

As I had to wait almost seven months longer than my other colleagues to receive my uniforms from my job, and my pants still don’t fit my “perfect derriere”, I can’t help but wonder do we, as the plus size women community have the same options and variety of the smaller sizes?

The answer is NO. Yes, the industry is making a lot of progress from when I was growing up; a little black girl now can see herself represented in significant magazines like VOGUE and on the runway plus size models walking for luxury brands such as VERSACE however are we well represented in the stores? Are our sizes available online?

I am an XL bottom and large top; before online shopping was accessible to everyone and became the way this generation shops predominately, people used to go mainly in the stores; I was a severe window shopper; I ambled every corner of the malls, I was known among my friends to map where to find the little black dress or the perfect pair of open toes.

Back then, in the stores and online, today, the bigger sizes are always sold out faster than the other sizes. I can help but wonder do the brands manufacture enough for the plus size segmentation, or it is the demand for plus size growing larger every day? Or is there a current study that measures how many of us are out there (I will investigate further on the matter)?

Rationally speaking to us, the plus-size community is in a more difficult place to find the perfect quality wardrobe, and the choices available are not sufficient. SAVAGE X FENTY has eliminated the tabu of plus-size women represented in lingerie, more brands like SKIMS have options from XS to 5XL for their shapers.

Fast Fashion such as ASOS, H&M, and NASTYGAL have understood the assignment, and big round of applause for Black Fashion Brands such as HANIFA providing luxury for all sizes.

We have a long way to go; until I can enter a MARNI or MIU MIU store and find my desired pieces, I will outline the inequality of the plus-size group. This is also one of my purposes in life to create a brand that provides Luxury pieces for all sizes because we are as stylish, chic, and fashionistas as our counterparts.

Thank you so much for reading and sharing my blog post, I would love to know your opinion on the matter down in the comment.
