If you are a Fashion enthousiaste or have been interested in la mode, there is no better location to be than New York City in the next coming two to three weeks. La crème de la crème of the luxury brands will be in attendance also the public is here to impress and be seen.
If you are in the “major league” I assume you know the etiquette and how to follow protocols, if you are in the minor league (Me) I will suggest you are ready to submerge in this exciting and one-of-a-kind experience.
For that reason, you should also be prepared to present yourself in the best possible way, yes being confident is key, but what about overdoing it or not realizing that you are misbehaving?
Shop the look
Two drinks max
You might have a drink or two, remember you are in a public space even though it says open bar doesn’t mean you can drink the entire bar, have a reasonable consumption of the beverages, and avoid falling or throwing up because you couldn’t handle your liquor.
Stay put and classy
Let’s be honest there is a lot of us, (bloggers, influencers, fashionistas designers, etc…) altogether during Fashion week and you might feel the need to over-talk or be loud to be seen nope wrong strategy! this is not the time, not the place, instead, listen, interact, smile, and learn from the pros “major league”. You have a golden opportunity to witness beforehand how the best do it therefore enjoy the show and take notes.
Always Ask first
We live in a world of TIK TOK, trends, and views. We also all have heard of the topic of celebrities wanting more personal space (Which is totally understandable). If you are at an event and a person who you admire is across you, first try eye contact and second ask first if the celebrity or influencer in question is interested in taking a picture with you. Just because the person is out here in public do not assume such and such is obligated to participate in your vlog or content.
Keep your assigned seat
Another case of etiquette, is you are attending a Fashion Show if they assign seats it is for a reason, I know the drill of wanting to be first row to snap the perfect pictures and videos of the catwalk is tempting, nonetheless have some respect for the event planner because they will come and ask you to move which is kind of embarrassing, remember you are in the third row this year, work and discipline yourself to be first row the upcoming years.
Be on time leave on time
There is an unwritten rule, which is you should not be the last to leave the party, if you come on time, you will have the length to enjoy and connect with everyone. Your energy should read I’m here I conquered and I left.
In general, your behavior always should be the utmost respect for yourself and your entourage. It might take you longer “to make it” now when you do, it will certainly be worth the wait. Behave as if your every move could become viral.
