A love letter to Upstate New York

A few years ago, if someone had said I would catch myself saying I enjoyed the outskirts of New York I would blindly laugh and say nope.

Well to my defense, I was not aware of the New York Upstate scope, my idea of New York was the 5 boroughs and my vision of a New Yorker was the fast paste of Brooklyn to the city commute.

My husband amused by my lack of knowledge when it comes to New York territory suggested the Catskills, after much research, we opted for a bed and breakfast with 5-star reviews all across the board.

On the day, we packed our bags, rented a car, and headed Upstate. I was pleasantly surprised that after just one hour of leaving the city, we were immersed in vegetation and nature.

The route was so enjoyable, listening to music and taking my passenger princess role to heart, the road trip alone felt sufficient, like an escape.

The contrast between City New Yorkers and Upstate New Yorkers is another reason why I love this State even more, they are nicer the food comes from the farms, basically the anti-stereotypical genre of the city.

The Catskills is now one of my favorite places, not only does it remind me of Haiti, but the love, and memories we shared have stamped this part of the land in my heart

The camping, bone fire, hiking and waterfalls are all wrapped in a special place in my brain, and once in a while, especially on the days my commute is next to crazy, I come back unwrapped and daydreamed of laughs and escape kisses.

Would I come back, most definitely, the Catskills is one destination I have on my bucket list to visit at least once a year with my husband. I can’t wait to write even more about this place and the peace it brings.

Have you visited the Catskills? If not you must,if yes let me know what activities and where you stayed.

Thank you for reading and sharing
