Premye Me

Anpil souvni, anpil anbyans, anpil koule anpil danse. One of my biggest bonds with Haiti is being able to visit the countryside alongside my father and relatives. Most of the company execution work always happened in Andeyo, we got to stay and enjoy the best of Haiti, the food, the people, and nature. 

Premye Me, Fete du travail is symbolic in Haiti, the biggest festival always happens in Jacmel, where we go in a group and stay at la Jacmelienne, back then I did not know it was a privilege to experience these moments with my family. 

The route itself is an epic adventure, first stop at Gressier to have some lambi in cups and fried plantain, then have kann kale as desert, my father always make sure that we understood the dangerous road and how important it was to honk at every curb, might be luck still from driving since he was nineteen years old and zero accident I considered his driving skills and rules immaculate and some sort of unwritten mystical marche à suivre. 

There is something special in the Sud Est of Haïti, you feel a warmth and une ivresse like you really belong, everything just makes sense, I did not understand at the time the importance of each locality, the smiles, each bite, the colors and most importantly the memories shared with my family. 

Premye Me, Mwen songe peyim, koule, anbyans, bon gou, ak fraicheur, I can wait to one day bring my future kids to this journey and teach them or him some of the most important life lessons that transcend time, ages, and frontier.
