Black History Month resolutions and more…

We are already five days into black history month, and 2023 is proven to be a fast-track year with more reason to steep on our year resolutions.

Every day the more I learn about our history the more fascinated and motivated I become, there are so many geniuses, heroes and influential Black men and women left unheard and under the radar.

The month of February is a rappel à l’ ordre, for myself as a booster to become, and to achieve, yes because I am a Black woman living my ancestor’s wildest dreams.

During this month I recharge and concentrate on my inner self to work and contribute positively to my community.

These are my resolutions for Black History Month.

Family and Friends

As small or big as your closest ones are, family is the part you can always count on, and friends are the ones who keep you grounded. As much as we live in a disconnected social media curtain, familial connection, and friendship are crucial.

Mental health

As a community, we have endured so many collective and individual traumas as well as stressors that whether we realize it or not did have an effect on our day-to-day decisions and comportment. I intend to always make the right decisions and focus on my well-being.

Physical health

Pandemic, confinement, and checking up on your vitals are also crucial. Time to be more active, a twenty-minute daily walk, gym membership, or exercises at home, I have read a meme that said one of the top poisons is physical inactivity. I try my best to eat more healthily as well, drink my water and mind my business.

Discipline

I once read that discipline will take you where motivation can’t, it is so true and the more I watch powerful black women harvesting their hard work, their discipline is the base of their success.

Education

Knowledge is power, Being an educated black woman is a top tier, because you can never be overdressed or overeducated. One of my resolutions is to develop my capacities and acquire new skills. My desire to learn and expand my abilities in society is priceless.

What are your resolutions for Black History Month? Let me know in the comments.
