Five life guidance for your twenties

The twenties, ahh what a time, you are at the age where if a person’s opinion is opposite to your belief, you either rebuke it entirely, or you decide to proceed with the exact contrary of what your thought process decide is the correct way.

Life is a lesson, and your twenties is the decade to make mistakes. Do not get me wrong that does not mean you cannot facilitate the learning experience of your thirties by developing certain boundaries and acting clever for the next decade.

Your bachelor’s degree is not the end of your studies

Growing up in a Haitian household comes with a lot of pressure to have a greater education, which is good and can feel congestive, if you have this environment growing up here in America I know after a four-year college you can resent higher degrees and decide to go only for work, which is comprehensible.

My advice is even though you will not go for another major or master’s yet, advance with learning skills, for example, if you are into photography, take the certifications related to photography either hobbies you may have or are passionate about consider taking a certification to attest you have knowledge of it for example styling, sowing, PMP, makeup artistry, jewelry making, entrepreneurial skills, etc.

Invest in quality pieces

Fast fashion is more prominent nowadays because of the internet and social media does not mean it was inexistent in the 2000s, the amount of money this younger generation of women spends on fast fashion is enormous.

If you are into fashion or you want to build a collection, invest in quality pieces for your handbags and shoes for starters, what are the benefits? first, you won’t have to buy dozens of bags because you will probably have one or two statement ones that you can afford ( Unless you can splurge on a luxury of course) Second you will accrue the value of your pieces over the years and you can resale or and is a step ahead with vintage pieces.

Do not waste time in a relationship

If you are in your twenties and the actual person you are involved in a sentimental relationship with is not your high school sweetheart or the person you met in your freshman year of college, these two mentioned above are the exception; in my humble opinion, maximum of one year to stretching two years should be the time you spend with this person.

You are at an age where you don’t really who know you are, yes society says you can drink, vote, move out, and be grown nonetheless do you really know what you really want in life? If you are super lucky, maybe yes, if not take the time to invest in yourself.

Take seriously your dreams, your aspirations, and ambitions, your future partner, your future soul mate will not waste your time or should not stop you from your goals, if you are in a situation where you feel confused or not appreciated, remove yourself, keep your priorities straight, and invest in your education, hobbies, and goals.

Cultivate long-time friendship

By the time you reach your thirties, your level of tolerance and méfiance will increase, you are either super busy and have your priorities straight or you have developed serious trust issues from unfavorable relationships therefore your circle of friends is small.

Your twenties are the time to cultivate these future relationships, from high school to college, and also new people you will meet throughout your twenties, make sure to keep a good impression for yourself, be considerate of others, avoid the mean and the bullies you do not want karma rolling out in your thirties. Be present for the parties as much as the long crying phone calls.

Take risks

Your twenties is the decade you are the most vulnerable to when it comes to people’s opinions, I know it is not as easy to write or say, you really have the key to your existence and always follow your gut, your ideas, and vision may sound crazy to many nonetheless be vocal, and make it happen takes risks and flourish.

One honorable mention is that I am super proud of this newer generation, they are bolder, and they are definitely less afraid of others’ opinions. This decade is the test try, and you must make sure you are focusing on yourself and taking all the risks associated with your goals. Your twenties shape the next decade, have fun, develop your skills, take risks, travel, and create bonds with people who really care about your flourishing self.

Let me know if you had the opportunity to go back to your twenties what would you change? Or if you are currently in your twenties what obstacles or opportunities are you confronting?

Let me know all your thoughts in the comments.
